The IEEE was formed on 1 January 1963 through the merger of the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE)*. So, 2012 is our 50th year, and the Hawaii Section of the IEEE would like to recognize all those who have been loyal members since the beginning. Help Create a First Hand History
The IEEE History Center would also like to recognize all those who have been loyal members since the beginning. It is creating a special collection of First Hand Histories submitted by these members. If you are a 50 year member and would like to contribute a First Hand History, please see the First Hand History creation instructions. Once your First Hand History is completed, we will mark your contribution with a graphic replica of the First 50 Year Member pin shown above.
*As a footnote I should add that the that the Hawaii Section predates the merger into the IEEE by many years as it was formed in 1950.
