1. IEEE Hawaii's 2012 Highlights:

It was a year of growth and community involvement. A brand new chapter
was born at UH Maui College, and its students donated many hours in
support of the NOMS conference. Our Chapters continued to present
technical talks, open to members and the community. Members volunteered
as mentors for STEM clubs and as judges in multiple Robotics
competitions and the Engineer Week Student Paper Contest. The Section
also sponsored students attending the Engineers Week Banquet. We began
to focus on community outreach and coordination with other organizations
via co-hosted events that are free to the public.

* Your input is needed! Should we host continuing-education for your
profession? Would you like to hear a specific speaker or topic? Do you
belong to a community group or school that would like to partner with
IEEE for an activity? Are there legislative items of importance to
members here in Hawaii? Please feel free to contact our PACE Chair at
david.morse@ieee.org.

2. Award Nominations - Start Thinking About 2013's Heroes:

Hawaii has many unsung heroes doing the hard work of helping others.
Let's keep an eye out for members and citizens who should be recognized
for their contribution. Below are links to IEEE awards. Our Hawaii
Section and Chapters can and should provide recognition of local
acheivement.
