John Camery participated in webcast meeting organized by IEEE USA on 5/2/13. IEEE Hawaii delegation lead by John Camery met Senator Hirono to communicate IEEE USA's position regarding this. Song K Choi and Kishore were part of the IEEE delegation. IEEE US & IEEE Hawaii Section encourages all members to write to their representatives.

2. Central Area Awards.  We have two student chapters in Hawaii (UH Maui Chapter & UH Manoa Chapter). IEEE Hawaii section would like to recognize our active student chapters by providing banners. Student chapter name (UH Manoa IEEE student branch, HH Maui IEEE student branch) will be printed in the banner. This resolution was moved by David Morse, seconded by Kishore Erukulapati.

All IEEE members are encouraged to read award description and nominate someone appropriate in our section. Additional information is available at www.ieee.org/go/hawaii.

3. IEEE Election & Future leadership development within our section
Nominating Chair (John Borland) communicated that there is only one nomination for the position of secretary for this year. All IEEE Hawaii members interested in leadership positions in our section (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer) are encouraged to submit nominations. It is important to develop new leadership due to term limits on the members that are currently in leadership roles in our section. David Morse was nominated for the position of Section Chair.

John Camery and David Morse called IEEE Communication Chair (Oscar Libed) during the meeting and left a voice message to find out Oscar's status.

a. All chapters are required to report at least two meetings per year. David Morse confirmed that IEEE computer society meeting held in April were published.
