Our Monthly Meeting

October EXCOM Meeting

John W. Camery, presiding
Attendees:
Chris A. Russell, Vice Chair
George K. McOuat
Grant Torigoe
Eduard Tavares
Beth Kinoshita
Eran Agmon
Mike Castell

Minutes:

We discussed plans for future meetings, IEEE Day, and the Comm. chapter. Eran Agmon discussed possible topics for Comm. chapter talks, his amateur radio activities and other topics. Eduard Tavares agreed to set up the technical talk for our November 5th meeting, which like this meeting will count for the Comm. Society / Sig. Proc. Society Chapter. As he did last year, Grant Torigoe agreed to help setup the Business Card Exchange with the student branch. We expect to spend a sum similar to last year for the food. Chris Russell proposed that the chapter should sponsor senior member advancement meetings. We would like to do this.  Eduard Tavares talked of the benefits the Program at Honolulu Community College and maker spaces. Mike Castell invited the chair to address his students at Honolulu Community College about the benefits of membership in the IEEE and its technical societies. A meeting was subsequently arranged and took place on 15 Oct. 2012.  The suggestion was also made that we invite Song Choi to give a talk on underwater water robotics. I subsequently contacted  him to see if he could fit us in his busy schedule. Perhaps the second week of November or the first week of December. We would like to count this as a technical talk for the Ocean Eng. chapter.
