We usually hold a
dinner meeting the first Monday of each month. However, we are holding our July meeting on the second Monday, July 9, 2012. Our
dinner meeting will be at the usual place 5:30PM at Zippy's, 59 North Vineyard Boulevard Honolulu, HI
96817. Map: http://zippys.com/live/locations/vineyard/.
The monthly IEEE Membership Development webcast is at 9 AM on the same date. If anyone is interest in becoming involved in membership development, please let me know.
Meeting Agenda
We need to form a team to work on conference bids. We need personnel from the section, chapters, industry, academia, elected officials and humanitarian societies coming together to generate an outstanding proposal. Song Choi is working to get support from UH-Manoa. We need to show initiative and find others who will get involved whether it be via email or attending our meetings.
We need to schedule meetings to meet section and chapter requirements for the year. This is critical for chapters who failed to report the required number of meetings last year. We need ideas for speakers and meetings. Dave Morse, our PACE chair, has some ideas we need to consider.
We need to put out a call for nominations for officers in the Computer Society Chapter. Our former chair, Nancy L Roemer, has retired after many years of dedicated service to the IEEE. Anyone interested can contact me or other members of the EXCOM for information. I propose we form a committee on nominations consisting of the members of the EXCOM who are also members of the Computer Society.
Congratulations to the UH-Manoa IEEE Student Branch on winning the Central Area Award for Best Student Branch and their nomination for the corresponding award in Region 6. We need more participation by our members making nominations for awards or serving in the capacity of an Awards Chair to process the nominations. A little effort once a year can lead to great rewards for our section here in Hawaii.
Congratulations to those responsible for the recent success in forming the University of Hawaii Maui Campus Student Branch in the Hawaii Section.
If there are additional items that anyone wants to discuss, please add a comment or notify me. Thanks.
